Presentation of the naturist village of Cap d'Agde

The naturist village of Cap d'Agde is the first naturist and libertine destination in the world, offering a fine sandy beach of more than 2 km. It is an autonomous village offering shops, bars, restaurants and many leisure areas.

History of the naturist village

The history of the Cap d'Agde naturist village dates back to 1954. Cap d'Agde did not yet have the worldwide reputation it has today since it did not yet exist at that time!

At that time, René and Paul Oltra, two avant-garde brothers, decided to create a small naturist campsite on the edge of the coast in Languedoc-Roussillon.

Very quickly, the naturist and family campsite of the Oltra brothers welcomes more and more people and becomes a must for naturist destinations.

9 years later, in 1963, the Racine mission , led by Pierre Racine, was established. This is an interdepartmental mission for tourist development of the Languedoc-Roussillon coast in order to create a seaside resort worthy of its name. The goal is to be able to accommodate the growing number of tourists (and naturists!) wishing to enjoy the place.

The naturist village of Cap d'Agde then took shape in the Bagnas district. In 1974, Port Ambonne, one of the neighborhoods of the village, also won the "Grand Prix d'architecture" for its originality.

Thanks to the Racine mission, Cap d'Agde is today the leading tourist seaside resort in Languedoc-Roussillon. The naturist village of Cap d'Agde is the first naturist center in Europe in terms of reception capacity.
