Héliopolis is the iconic building of the Cap d'Agde Naturist Village: a large horseshoe-shaped building opening onto the Mediterranean, with the naturist beach a 3-minute walk away. Héliopolis was built from 1975 onwards, to plans by the architect François Lopez, who had already designed Port Ambonne. Its curved shape and stepped terraces have a simple purpose: to give every apartment as much sun and as much view as possible. A consequence of these stepped terraces: the higher the floor, the smaller the apartments. Depending on the floor and the position in the curve, you look out over the sea, the beach or the inner gardens.
Héliopolis has a shopping arcade with a mini-market, shops, bars and restaurants. You can spend a week here without using the car: beach in the morning, lunch on a terrace, shopping downstairs. The port and its evening atmosphere are a 3-minute walk away.
The area is lively, with a clientele of couples and part of the village's libertine nightlife close by. It is less intense than Port Nature, but remains busy in July and August. Those looking for peace and quiet will prefer Port Ambonne or Port Vénus.
